I was born in Lubbock Texas in 1961. As a child I lived in Texas, Oklahoma, and Southern California. At an early age I developed an interest in art. I started painting and drawing as a child. While in high school I painted every day. While at Edison Highschool I attended summer classes at the Art Institute in Pasadena.
In 1980 I attended Parsons School of Design at the New School for Social Research in NYC. I lived in the Lower East Side. After school I spent some time designing textiles. In 1984 I got a job with FedEx where I spent the next 32 years. I retired from FedEx as the Managing Director of Operation in 2017 for Northern California and Hawaii to paint fulltime.
In 2018 I was appointed to the San Mateo County Arts Commission by Supervisor David Pine. In 2021 I met Ruth Waters and together with the help of Peter Cleaveland we started the Peninsula Art Foundation. This year accepted responsibility for the Visual Arts Exhibit at the San Mateo County Fair .
I am excited about being part of PAF where we will work to support artists and art organizations in San Mateo County. We are in the beginning stages of opening two artist studio and learning centers in the Tanforan Mall.
My paintings are influenced by my travels. Lately I have spent time in San Miguel de Allende & Oaxaca Mexico and Antigua & Lake Atitlan Guatemala. Both Mexico and Guatemala are rich in culture, color, and texture. I hope to express this through the brush strokes and colors seen in my paintings.
